It brought a tear to my eye clicking on the old forum link and being redirected to the new one

Uhm, this post makes me wonder about the future of AHQ even more... I mean, " Right now, we're still primarily using the AHQ Bug Reports to..."

HermioneSims Yes, it looks like a general optimization or slimming of the structure ๐คจ It undeniably seems that AHQ is going the same way as the old EA forum. It could all be ok if the new EA template wasn't so hopeless to navigate. It is impossible to return to older posts, as they are quickly perceived as outdated and far down in rank. The search function in the new forum sends you in all sorts of directions, often far from the target. NB: I also note that EA_Cade's post cannot be commented on. NB: Thanks for sharing the link. It didn't put me in a good mood, but better be prepared than be surprised by a thief in the night ๐

I feel like the new EA forums structure would actually be an improvement for bug reporting. We don't need to read long conversations chronologically in a bug report forum, we need to see the most salient info quickly, and a good tag system would only help.

We don't need to read long conversations chronologically in a bug report forum, we need to see the most salient info quickly, and a good tag system would only help. I'm pretty certain that the forum tech they're using now was designed for bug reporting. So, if they address the site stability issues, it will probably work for that. That's also why I have no hope that the EA forum will ever be a community for sharing stories and experiences, like it was and like what we're trying to build here could be. The technology simply isn't designed to support it.

I can see an advantage in not having to fill out a form first, which can make someone give up reporting a problem. On the other hand, there is a really well-functioning index on Answers HQ that makes it easy to find a specific problem and select me too. I have a hard time imagining this index in the new template.

MonaSolstraale Do you mean the "compiled list of reported issues" ? That is manually maintained by one individual (crinrict) so it just depends on if they can get her or another individual to do the same on the new forum... I can imagine crin would still do it, but not on two forums at the same time.

mightysprite That's exactly what I mean. Crinrict does a fantastic job ๐ฅฐ I can't see the new template being suitable for that kind of compiled list of reported issues. But perhaps the template is designed to keep an overview of reported issues with artificial intelligence. Not something we should keep track of.

It's a shame but I thought they might eventually close it. It would be to hard having them both running. Crinrict does a brilliant job. I would be stressed out in a day doing that. Oh I did not like to say (I might jinx myself...LOL) but my link worked today for the sims EA forum

So sad to see the old forum gone. I really have a difficult time being active in the new one. Due to real life interruptions, I'm usually posting a lot or not at all. It was easier to catch up on the old forum than it is on the new one. As it is, I find myself doing a bit of cursory reading for new information and the occasional hit and run reply to a short thread, but nothing like the involvement on the old forum. It's sad that we've lost that sense of community.

I've now pretty much given up on the new official forums. There's not much presence with the creative simmers, the threads and discussions are dominated by the gaming simmers and...alas...the ones that like to complain about the game.
One group that might be good to get to sign up here are the ones that would design lots and households for your game if you gave them a list of what you wanted. I can't remember their name off hand.

I've now pretty much given up on the new official forums. There's not much presence with the creative simmers, the threads and discussions are dominated by the gaming simmers I do have to defend game-playing simmers a bit here. I do think many of those , are very creative too. Unless you let game decide totally 100% of what you do I personally play the game more than stage stuff for a story and such, all my normal updates are regular gameplay. However I do consider myself being creative , in screenshots at least. But yes, OFF TOPIC this here,I apologize. I had to defend myself and other gameplay focused simmers being creative too Sorry, keep on going, I'm going to my corner again

I read your post kelloggjkellogg as you apart from your frustration with the new EA forum, miss the Building thread from Creative Corner from the old forum. I have to admit that I mostly followed the part of the Creative Corner that dealt with story tellers, apart from The Sims Franchise thread. I know The Sims 4 and 3 building threads were a big part of Creative Corner, but aside from AlJay2000 Blueprint Builds, I've mostly been following builders on YouTube. I actually feel a little guilty writing this because I had decided to participate in the AlJay2000 August Challenge. It's like I never have enough time. In addition, I am also a rather lazy builder who prefers to settle for interior design ๐ณ Bottom line, I don't really know who to invite, but I would encourage you all to spread a seed if you know anyone who might be interested.

Just to clarify, I'm not knocking the gaming simmers but back on the old forums I stopped following gameplay threads after a while because they had little to offer me, and it was easy to do because of the way that old site was designed. You picked and chose what you wanted to read. The new format makes that harder so the gameplay discussions, as they are more numerous, dominate. And the moaners just keep on moaning.

That is precisely the essence of the criticism that has been repeated by many forum members. The one-sided focus on what is most popular makes it difficult, if not impossible, to find your special interest. An official forum should not limit itself to being a competition on approaches to the game, but rather contribute with a clear presentation of the interests that exist.
Thus, nothing bad is said about game playing simmers. Personally, I would say that playing the game in every way helps to challenge my creativity and give me new ideas.
