It just isn't comfortable for me to browse and participate there. You nailed it when you said it feels like too much work. I think you're right in that it's a format that probably works fine for other types of gamer groups, but not for simmers.

yes cyncie and GlacierSnow, me too-- if there were some normal way to read a conversation, in the order that people had the conversation, and easily pick up reading where we left off, I would be a lot happier over there. The "float popular replies to the top and nest replies" approach is better for boards that are about problem-solving, getting tips, answers to questions. Ironically that format might work really well for AHQ. I have the opposite annoyance over there, it's organized chronologically but the most-voted posts are really the important ones to read, and it doesn't usually matter what got posted in what order.

You can find it all on Crinrict's Help Blog. That website is much more intuitive with descriptions of patches and clear links to all specific problems. He does a fantastic job.

I just tried to go to the old thesimsforums to check an old PM convo, which was doable until at least the day before yesterday; with the disclaimer they're read-only ofc (I could seemingly still send PM's though? Weird) but I tried to do so again and got redirected to the EA forums Officially the end...

queenofmyownfantasy I 'liked' your post but actually I don't like it ๐ข I happened to try to use my bookmark this morning to visit the old forums and found myself redirected too. They're gone.

Now I'm glad I cut myself off from the old forums cold turkey when the new ones went live. It makes it hurt a little less... but I'll tell you all, being here makes me feel better. The forums are dead, long live Sim Creatives.

simgirl1010 Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Since Crinrict doesn't mention their gender anywhere and has an avatar showing a little guy in an old-fashioned bathing suit, it was hard for me to guess ๐ queenofmyownfantasy Yes I know how you feel. It is not unexpected but very sad ๐ญ

I've been part of forums before that were just...deleted, gone into the abyss. It's always very disheartening. I have some history with (dutch) sims forums. Finally found a nice place, I did the 7th gen of a forumlegacy (every gen is played by another person and there are some rules and challenges etc and every person makes a story about that gen), but it was the end of TS3 there having been no new-EA content for a while (fortunately the last few years has been a renaissance of whole new interactions and "premium" objects thanks to the modding community) and this was 2015 so TS4 was still very much objectively unfinished, and the forum started dyeing out. I tried my best, doing a 365 project and all (which I had even forgotten I did because well, that's what happens when you can't look back), making up challenges and games to play with other members, but in spring 2017 they just...pulled the plug. I don't remember the details but it was pretty sudden, and then I took refuge to the Thesimsforums with some other people. I would love to be able to look back to that forumlegacy at least, or to reread other people's stories that were on there, but it just isn't possible. It's just... GONE and now, 4 years of conversation with an old friend who has been a big inspiration & also saved me a bit tbh is gone as well just POOF.

Oh, I just have a sad flashback to when the Danish forum closed in 2018. I managed to save parts of my stories from web.archive.org. It is a time I do not look back on with pleasure ๐ฅ

I'm so grateful for this forum here. But it still feels so sad that the old forum is officially gone now. I did go there several times even after they made it read only, to wander around like a sad ghost and reminisce.
Being here and seeing familiar faces really helps a lot though.
