Unfortunately, it sounds like the AHQ forum will also eventually be migrated over to the new forum some time in the future as well. This reply by "puzzlezaddict" suggests it may be in the works: Even though this "puzzlezaddict" is only a 'hero', maybe they're privy to some behind the scenes knowledge that others aren't? Link to that thread: Why are Answers HQ members forced to start over?I guess it makes sense that they'll eventually move any and all EA related forums/boards to one place, under one umbrella.... it's just too bad they chose such a horrible forum/board design and layout to use as their 'EA games catch-all hub'. I'm sure they'll iron out the wrinkles (site glitches) slowly over time, but let's be perfectly honest here.... you can't fix bad design, you can only scrap it completely and start again from scratch. The endless scrolling (instead of pagination) and nested replies (instead of chronological order posts) are embedded in the original basic design of the site, so those two main problems for most of us will always be a permanent fixture and thus, will never be changed (unless they scrap the entire design layout and start with a different one). And so, here we all are lost on the big sea, known as the internet, trying to find a new home where we can all reconnect with our fellow simmers once again.
I'm really not happy to read the puzzlezaddict quote. If EA is to follow a well-known formula, they probably throw Answers HQ into the pot before the dish is finished and put a bunch of well-intentioned Admins and technicians to save an inedible dish. I have my doubts that the result will be particularly inviting 🙄

Now we have this forum honestly I am not going to touch the new forum with the exception of PMing a friend/reader who's on there. I much, MUCH prefer it here. Here I can actually post my story safely without breaking any guidelines, it's easier to use, and the best part, way less people.

I really hate using the EA forum - it’s a total pain, and I spend as little time as possible there (and that time is mostly spent trying to navigate to the bit of the forum I actually want to be in because the links/bookmarks are forever breaking 😬). But I also really miss the simmers who are still using it, and I miss seeing their contributions and thoughts. So I’ll keep going back. But I find I’m spending much more productive time here, browsing, reading stories, etc.

pacer1965 That’s interesting, but I personally have come to think that ‘for the time being’ doesn’t really mean a great deal. I remember asking something similar about our old forums to EA Cade when there was a lot of speculation about them closing, and he said something very similar. Yet just a few months later he announced they were closing. So it may mean something or nothing.

I asked on AHQ about them closing. I'm not sure how to link the post from AHQ. But this is what one of the Community managers said to me "AHQ isn't going any place for the time being" Sorry had to edit my post as not sure the link was working

The symbol is a small globe with a note in front. What I interpret from the answer you get from Answers HQ is: "AHQ isn't going any place for the time being" It is not a clear no and must be interpreted as yes, in the long run.

My first impression of the new "forums" was definitely "Walmart Reddit", except reddit still looks leages nicer and more user-friendly. I just get lost on the new EA forums, and of course, as a sims 3 player the bad divisions (the tags are incredibly laggy) don't help either. It's just a jumbled mess.

I suppose it's nice that they addressed some of our concerns, but the fundamental issue, for me, is that the EA forum base structure just isn't suited to the type of community we have. I really can't make myself get into the longer threads that I used to participate in (screenshots, what happened, gameplay, creative) because the forum doesn't manage large discussions well and it all feels like too much work. It saps the joy right out of participating. It will be fine for finding out the latest news, posting about a bug or technical problem, and limited discussions. But that's not what our community was about, and we've definitely lost that. The fact that we don't have a easily available community advocate, like we did with EA_Cade, makes it even less appealing.
The EA forum might be working better for other game fandoms because those games aren't as story based as The Sims. Those players want to gain online friends, get tips for advancing in the game, find out cheats, etc. We do so much more than that. Short of scrapping it and starting over, I don't think that forum will ever really work for us the way the Vanilla forum did. I doubt EA is going to retool to yet another format, so I think we're stuck.
There are people I miss seeing in the larger community, though. And if some brave soul wanted to launch and manage a large general forum, I'd support them. Having moderated a few large groups and forums, I know that's not something for the faint of heart, though. Until then, I'll just check the EA board for small discussions and information and get my special interest and community fixes on these smaller boards.

Can anyone else not login on there right now? I'm not sure where you're referring to. If it's EA's Forum, I can't log in now.

Can anyone else not login on there right now? Yes, and I get the message: "You can't create or sign in to an EA Forums account right now. Don't worry—you can still view and browse the forums without an account. We're working on this, and we'll share an update if and when this changes." Which makes me think they're working on it (not sure whether it's a planned work or not).

Oh, but I'm not an obvious person 😳 I'm also glad to know it's not me who has been banned for inexplicable reasons 😅
Wondering what they're working on?
