I downloaded the patch yesterday. I put all mods back into the game. I played my test game for a few hours and I didn't experience any errors. The game loaded smoothly.

I think they actually gave modders some kind of a head start this time? A lot of updates came out really fast, and I saw some comment about modders getting some information ahead of time, but don't know any details. I noticed that before the last major updates, EA_Cade shared the TDESC files in an attached .zip file, as a service to Mod creators on the Sims 4 Discord. I assume it is a useful tool for them.

I'm seeing bug reports that, while the update didn't break many mods, it did break some users ability to play with mods. Reports indicate some folks games won't load at all. I think I'll be holding off on updating a little while longer.

The patch removed the Happy at Home login event rewards for many console players and some PC players. EA_Cade is looking for additional info from affected players, and saves from PS4/PS5 if possible. answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-INFO-Happy-Login-Rewards-removed-Patch-1-99/td-p/14049752crinrict found a solution that will work on PC So I did some file testing on PC and to me it seems the entitlements were moved to a new file called accountDataDB.packge I think the issue here is that the game failed to transfer the entitlements properly on Console and Mac and also for some PC players. If you backed the usersetting.ini up BEFORE the patch, then you can just put that one back and it will recognize your entitlements again, moving them over to accountDataBD.package (Yes, I know, this isn't a solution for console). Past patch we now need to backup accountDataDB.packge instead of usersetting. For any games started after the patch, the info in there will be overwritten. Good Luck Crin

They do not do enough testing on these patches before they drop them
(... and, as an aside, let me just say how lovely it is to be in a community where I can say that without fear of being banned from the forum by EA_JackbootedThug)

I play on PC and I just checked if my login rewards are still in my build mode catalog. Fortunately, nothing is missing because I hadn't considered making a copy of usersetting.ini. So much to take into account with these updates 🤔

I think I'll be holding off on updating a little while longer. Both are DX11 issues. Not all mods are yet DX11 compatible. You (general you) can toggle back to DX9 either from settings in game, OR, IF you cannot launch at all, you can forcelaunch with DX9, here is how: answers.ea.com/t5/PC/DirectX-11-DX11-for-The-Sims-4-A-Step-by-Step-Guide/m-p/13711976#M276117HOW TO FORCE DX9
If you run into issues launching The Sims 4 on your AMD or NVIDIA card after this update:
Follow the same steps as above to reach the "Command Line Arguments" box (EA App) or the "Set Launch Options" text field (Steam).
In the text field, type "-dx9"
Click "OK" to save your changes.

But I’ve never (yet) been banned from the EA forums, and I’ve always wondered what heinous crimes simmers had committed to get themselves banned — especially those I found surprising because they always seemed to be measured and kind in their comments. And as we’re never allowed to discuss it there, it always remained a great mystery to me 🙂

Really? Now we have to memorize another new file to add to our regular backup routine? How very... frustrating. I'm not aware of any other game on the market where players have to dig through their documents/program files and make backup copies to ensure nothing goes wrong during game updates?
This is crazy.
Also, I'm not seeing a file named "accountDataDB.packge" in my documents folder? Maybe this is a new file associated with the latest update (because I haven't updated my game yet) and that's why I'm not seeing it?
Thank goodness for Crinrict's help and workarounds. I think I'm going to play it safe and back up both the usersetting.ini and accountDataDB.packge, even if we don't have to, just to be safe. I simply don't trust the game to properly function anymore after installing new patches or DLC. *sigh*
But more importantly: A very special "thanks!" to you too mightysprite for always being on top of all these game issues and posting info about it for us. I would never know about half of this stuff if it wasn't for your posts!

You're welcome AncientMuse! I don't know why I find this stuff so interesting but at least someone benefits <3 And yes, accountDataDB.package appears the first time you start up your game (the game, not EA App) after updating to the latest patch. So make a copy of your UserSetting.ini before opening your game.

Quite a few reports of San Myshuno festival objects appearing overlapped with each other when no festival is supposed to be happening, and/or appearing in the household inventory of San Myshuno apartment dwellers. Older bug but many newer reports. answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-CL-Overlapping-festivals/td-p/7811392Perhaps caused by the patch's "fix" to the bug where festivals would disappear upon going in and out of CAS? I asked on the thread if anyone's seeing it in a save that has never had mods, since mods are a frequent culprit of issues like this

Click "OK" to save your changes. Gosh! I have an NVIDIA graphics card and am thus automatically updated to DirektX11 I'm glad I'm not experiencing any problems because that guide looks really complicated. I'm never happy to tinker with program files as I have no idea what I'm doing. It is too late for me to take a copy of usersetting.ini. It is overwritten. (However, I would have done it if I had known about it) It is so complicated to understand what leads to an error. I recognize the festivald mistake from years ago. I happened to take a picture in the game yesterday during the Romance festival because the theme was so crazy. It's probably due to a morekisses Mod. Except a Sakura festival in winter is out of tact, it looks right. I haven't finished testing every nook and cranny of the game, but if it helps clarify I'd be happy to take a screenshot of my mods folder, but I don't want to force this on anyone. I almost feel a bit of a traitor to say that I haven't had any problems since the update.

MonaSolstraale , first of all, calm down If your game is ALREADY up and running with DX11 and by any mod or other reason you need to revert to DX9.. you can toggle it ingame settings, under graphics. You do not need the tutorial above.
