MonaSolstraale ooh, that's interesting (and very sad that it had to come to this). Our membership is small right now but I have noticed an increase in the number of 'guests' lurking in the last couple of days, so hopefully some others will come join us.

I won't start on my rant about how bad the new EA forum is, but I'm not surprised this is happening. It's sad though. It's rough to see that wonderful creative community falling apart. I felt a little guilty, and kind of heartbroken, myself abandoning it and moving my main threads over here. But this is just a much better forum for the kinds of things I want to use a forum for. I hope others will find it as well and we can build a good community here. EA had plenty of opportunity to find out what simmers want in a forum, and they didn't bother to do so.

I shared the link because I was pleasantly surprised that other Simmers have started sharing information about Sim Creatives and I think she writes briefly and exactly what we all think. PS: I had tagged JesLet40 a few days ago because she has written critically before, but I haven't seen her on this Forum.

SnuffyBucket I have gotten feedback from at least one simmer who checked out this forum and felt like it was meant only for "Writers", which they didn't consider themselves to be (despite actually having written some really good stories), so they didn't join. I'm wondering if the "welcome to your new forum" post in the general discussion section could be worded differently. If we want to attract simmers who are likely to start threads or post stuff in the "art", "sims", "builds", "challenges", "screenshots", or "videos" sections, maybe the welcome note could be worded to be more inclusive? I know we kind of started out focused on storytelling because it seemed like the storytelling simmers were some of the most vocally frustrated with the EA forum, but I feel like this is a great forum for all kinds of creative simmers. So I'd hate to have potential members feeling unwelcome just because they aren't or don't consider themselves "storytellers" or "writers".

I do not know if you are writing about this inquiry from GallacticGal GlacierSnow I replied that she is welcome to make suggestions when she comes in and we haven't thought of everything. Perhaps I should have clarified it with you SnuffyBucket 😳, but based on the conversations we had before you started the Forum, I assumed that this is how it is.

MonaSolstraale adding new boards and implementing new features is usually very straightforward. It's really important to me that everyone feels seen and included here so I'm more than happy to add, modify and change things to accommodate as many people as possible.

Question: I know the 'what happened in your game today' threads were super popular over the on the old forum and are a nice medium between those who tell stories, those who share screenshots and those who like seeing others' gameplay. But as I never used it, I'm not sure how best to implement it or where it'd best sit? I welcome any thoughts!

I think it is well placed between the screenshots and the story thread as an independent category. Otherwise, I think it's more like screenshots, even if people like to post several pictures at a time.

MonaSolstraale It was someone else who gave me feedback, in a private message. But I figure if we're getting views but not a lot of members, they might not be alone in how they were feeling. I think the layout of the forum is pretty good, they only thing I could really see that might be making some people uncertain was the intro message. SnuffyBucket Definitely some kind of "What happened in your game today" thread is needed. On the old EA forum, I think it was in the General Discussions section. But, honestly, I think it could go in screenshots section. Especially if that section was named something more like "screenshots and game play updates". Or it could get its own section if people are likely to make personal gameplay update threads. I don't know how much people tended to do that though. I mostly saw people all posting updates on just a couple threads.

Hi SnuffyBucket. I think your restructuring looks really good and very recognizable in the structure from the old EA Forum. Please excuse me for commenting a little late. I just got home from my physical therapy when you wrote and oh my that workout was hard today. I snoozed on the couch for an hour 😅 I'm excited to see if it fulfills any wishes. Having said that, I also think that you can't embrace the whole world. It is ok that you choose a defined structure in which you can recognize yourself. I actually really like that there is a section where we can talk about new releases and updates. This is something we spend a lot of time on in the Danish Forum. Another part that has lots of questions about is bugs in the game. There I almost always refer to Crinrict's Sims 4 Help Blog. He does such a great job and gives the best advice on keeping the game healthy. Maybe I could suggest a section where you can get good advice about Mods, between players. I guess that's all for now. I'll be back if anything else comes to mind.

I will publicise this forum on the Sims of History Discord as well as on Tumblr (I now have a Tumblr account, mainly for my Lookbooks). I have accounts on both the new Sims Forum and the EA one as well and they are both rubbish. I'm not surprised people are quitting it already.
