April 2022 Entry: "Love Lies Here"Challenge number: BB29 On Gallery: Love Lies HereLot size: 30X20 Lot type: Haunted House Residential I used the shell provided by AlJay2000 for the basis of this house. I made a few small modifications and added a greenhouse. I also was feeling creative, so the description became the first chapter of a story I started writing. I actually did end up writing some more (though only about 5 chapters so far, with a lot more game play screenshots taken just waiting to be written up). The name of the lot is from the title of the story. I suppose it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense otherwise.
Hopefully you enjoy Milton's first letter. ---STORY--- My dear friend, I hope this letter finds you well. As I disclosed to you in my previous communication, the journey to Forgotten Hollow has been an exhausting ordeal, involving first two months of seasickness, and then many days of jolting about in the back of a donkey cart. But I have at last arrived safely, and to my great relief I have found lodging. Henceforth, please send all my mail to Number 4 Forgotten Hollow, in care of Mr. Victor Rebuschatis, as I have taken a room in his home as a boarder. In the village at the foot of the mountains, I was warned about this old manor. I will admit, the exterior does seem a bit neglected, and gave me some pause. The stories of betrayal, vengeance, and something terrible happening years ago in the garden shed are likely mere rumors, however, as I could glean no specifics from any of the storytellers. I did notice a very old grave upon the premises, but I am not concerned. The epithet is quite faded, but it reads "Here lies my love who lied." I thought that morbid play upon words might amuse you, as it did me. I will continue this letter once I have settled in.

I have met the master of the house now, and I find him to be a pleasant fellow. Mr. R seems a well-read and contemplative sort, so I think we will get on well. I have been given full permission to use the kitchen and pantry at any time day or night as I find the need, which will help greatly when I am up late with my writing. It is a lovely room, well appointed and spacious. You would be pleased to see it. Being famished from my travel and meager rations, I fell upon Mr. R's kind generosity with enthusiasm. It is thanks to you, my friend, that I know my way around a stove as well as I do. I shall always be grateful. I offered to cook for Mr. R as well, but he tells me he usually makes other arrangements, so I ate alone this evening. I do not mind. I am certain I will find companionship soon enough.

The house itself is beautiful. I wish you could see it. Everywhere are curiosities and works of art such as I know you would adore. To my delight, I found that the amenities for sanitation here are every bit as modern and pleasant to use as one might expect in the cities these days. I had been fearing much worse, but Mr. R assures me such marvelous engineering is quite common in Forgotten Hollow. The upstairs has a fully modern indoor water closet with a flushable commode and a washing basin with a faucet. The downstairs has a beautiful tub for bathing which is quite comfortable and private. You need not fear for my health. I shall be quite safe. I think I do not need to tell you, I am weary and sore from my travels. Mr. R has provided me with a much more lavish boarding room than I anticipated. Indeed, at first sight, I mistook it for the master chambers. But Mr. R informs me it is to be my room. He keeps other accommodations. The chest of drawers he says is for my exclusive use. The closet door, unfortunately, is old and jammed shut, so the closet is unusable. But this is no matter to me. I have very few possessions. The bed looks inviting, and I can no longer keep my eyes open. I will complete this letter in the morning.

While I was still in the village at the foot of the mountains, I heard a great many superstitious ramblings about hauntings and weird apparitions in this old manor. I was advised many times to avoid it. But do not let your imagination get the better of you! I promise you, having spent a night here now, I neither heard nor saw any manifestation more frightening than a mouse. There is much creaking and rattling of the timbers and window panes as the night cools and the winds set in, of course... But that is well to be expected in an old house like this.

Truth be told, I slept like a baby. I was so exhausted from my months of travel... ... I doubt even the Dark One himself could have woken me.

And so, I seem to have landed on my feet, as they say. Now that I am once again rested and well fed after my long ordeal, I find myself grateful for all which has gone right in this journey. I am hopeful that the troubles I had back home will not follow me here. The morning sunlight, though dawning a bit later than expected, casts a rosy glow on everything I see. I think that in the history of this old manor and the beauty of these mountains, I will find much to inspire my writing and heal my soul. Give my regards and my humble best wishes to all your family, and to Jonathan when next you see him. I will write again when I have the time, to tell you more tales of my adventures here. With warmest affection, Milton Renfield

July-August 2023 Entry: "Old Foreman's Trailer"Challenge number: BB39 On Gallery: Old Foreman's TrailerLot size: 30X30
I didn't use the shell for this one. I built all by my own self (aren't you proud of me? ).
I was feeling in kind of a cheeky mood when I wrote the description.

Outdoor landscaping includes an old water tower, an orange cargo crate, and piles of unidentified metal bits. Also, stacks of old milled logs, very large tires, and a rusty barrel of who knows what. For your comfort and convenience, the toilet is located in the patented outdoor Hygiene Shack. Take the first door. That leads to the toilet. The other door is locked. But the blueprints show it only leads to an old cellar. Which we are certain the previous owner never used for any purpose at all. For the low, low price of 11,282 simoleons it can all be yours!

GlacierSnow I rarely get to comment, but I'm quite fond of your worn trailer. The colors are a perfect continuation of the surrounding nature. I remember building several trailers and houseboats in sims3. There is something fascinating about micro-buildings.

Thank you MonaSolstraale! This worn trailer is one of the few blueprint build entries that I am still playing with (the other is the haunted house in the slideshow before this one). In most of my entries, I create the lot and then make a few sims to show it off. But for this last one, I already had those two guys, they had been waiting and waiting for me to be able to afford Werewolves because I had an idea for them that needed that pack. As soon as I did buy it, I started making them a home in Moonwood Mill. The timing just happened to coincide with the blueprint build trailer lot challenge month. So it worked out good for them. I really miss the houseboats from Sims 3! I used to make a lot of those too. I also really enjoy trying to make compact living spaces for my sims. There's a pleasing challenge to trying fit everything they need while still having it all be accessible.

January 2024 Entry: "Pirate Inn"Challenge number: BB40 On Gallery: Pirate InnLot size: 30X20 Lot type: Bar A place for weary pirates to enjoy food, drink, company, games, and sleep. Also, they can get a bath. Finally. I used the shell provided by AlJay2000 but modified it a little (mostly upstairs) to fit what I need to use the building for in my own game. Also, because I wanted to make it a bar, I was forced to place a stereo and a TV, which did not fit my pirate setting, so I hid those in an inaccessible basement room. If you want to make those items usable, move them to one of the upper floors, and delete the hidden underground room.
