OMG I am only a few chapters in but I ran over to comment Over the past year or so, this thing keeps happening to me where I’d go into a story completely blind, and suddenly there are VAMPIRES and I’d be like, ‘there are VAMPIRES in this story?!?!??!’ So when it was revealed that Reuben is a vampire I literally screamed. This is incredible, I will never not be blindsided by the presence of vampires.
Having recently watched a movie about friendly aliens and crying my eyes out, I’ve been wanting more alien stories, so this story could not have come at a better time. Seventeen as narrator is so funny and wholesome, and the screenshots where he is smiling bring me so much joy in my soul. I love his observations about Earth and the people thereof, and the snippets of Sixam culture he discloses are fascinating to read about. I am super hooked!
Okay Imma go keep reading now! Excited to see what other shenanigans Seventeen and Paladin gets up to!

Hi tavvles! Thank you so much for your comments!  I'm delighted by your reaction to Reuben's reveal. Reuben and Ion are both characters very dear to my heart, even though they are such complete opposites. They are both a lot of fun for me to write. Have fun catching up! Feel free to leave comments here or on the blog if you feel so inclined. I enjoy seeing what readers are noticing or reacting to. Season Two is coming, though slower than I had hoped. |

I just finished Chapter 1 - there's a lot to go - and oh my goodness, Seventeen is so very cute! I love how he contrasts with Maldusk. They are definitely like the Odd Couple.

I just realized that there are only 40 chapters so far, not sixty. (I don't know why I thought there were sixty!) I'm on chapter 35 right now. I'm divided between needing to find out what's going to happen to Reuben and not wanting to see the story come to an end. Especially since, when I'm finished, I'm going to have to plan that next chapter of Hansel and Gretel.  |

arieltriffic Sounds like you're enjoying it (or at least enjoying procrastinating on the next chapter of Hansel and Gretal  ). Don't worry, Chapter 40 isn't the end of the story... just the place I leave you hanging until I manage to get enough chapters in Season Two ready (I really am making progress, I swear).

GlacierSnow Just finished a couple more chapters. I am falling more and more in love with the story every installment Chapter 35 I absolutely love how Reuben doesn't show up in the double mirror. I was going to ask, hasn't somebody noticed that yet? But then Reuben commented on that right after. So, I guess I'll just have to ask if anyone has noticed his pointy teeth. Chapter 36 Did you build that museum yourself? I am amazed at the amount of love and care that went into it.  I'm onto chapter 37 now.EDIT: Some more thoughts (spoilers!) Chapter 37 The popcorn machine sitting prominently on the counter while Tristan sobs at the table is perfect. Oh my plum - the mannequin Tre was super funny. Chapter 38 Ion is absolutely adorable. I think you once described him as a "toddler with a dictionary." The way he walked into the room to stop the fight between Tristan and Reuben was precious; it was like a child who begs his parents to quit fighting because he loves them both.
Also, I noticed Annie's Pufferhead shirt. Yes, she is totally an Owlymoon.
Interlude Aw! That was so cute. The number of times my own dog has gone on independent adventures - actually, it's not that many. I try to keep her from running away because she's a big girl and people get scared. But that dropped phone has me curious. EDIT 2: Finished season one. I'm amazed. I want more. This was really, really good. Thoughts on some of the other chapters: Chapter 39 I know you warned me, but eep! I think this chapter was a little too racy for my tastes. I had to squint between some of the panels for this one.
It was interesting how Rosalind has her hooks into many vampires (and a good chunk of the vice) in the city. That is some kind of power, isn't it? She seems very dangerous. Chapter 40 Is that Erwin Pries running the gas station? It IS. Oh my plum - there's Tre. Aaand he's gone again. Black helicopters! Men in black! Memory wipers! This is like a conspiracy fever dream.

arieltriffic Thanks for your comments! I'm glad you enjoyed season one so much. That was some seriously fast binge-reading! Chapter 35 -  Nope. No one has noticed Reuben's lack of reflection or his pointy teeth. Everyone is already much too busy not noticing all the other weird things going on in this world. Chapter 36 - Thanks! Yes. I built the museum. Building the sets where scenes will take place is a big part of my writing process because, while I am building, I think about dialogue, actions, camera angles, and how the scene will flow. By the time I'm done building I usually have figured out how I want to write the chapter. Chapter 37 -  Mannequin Tre (aka Tre 2.0) was one of my favorite absurd gag scenes. I have no idea why I thought of doing this, but I still love it so much. Be sure to check out the bloopers entry for Chapter 37 for a little behind-the-scenes side story... Chapter 39 - I was pretty nervous posting this chapter because I knew some readers might find it a bit much. But it's actually one of my favorites. Building the set, creating the sims and choosing their costumes for all those photos, and making all the poses for this scene was a lot of fun. Plus Reuben's perturbed expression in the midst of all that opulence and tackiness was just a delight to behold. I'd actually been planning on this chapter from very early on (if you're watching the background closely, this chapter isn't the first place that Patrick makes an appearance...). I enjoy this level of innuendo and bawdiness. But I know different readers will have different comfort levels. Hence the detailed warnings. I'd say that this chapter is about the limit of how racy the story is likely to ever get. So, hopefully I haven't totally scared you off. And you are right, Rosalind Jade has a lot of power in this city, and probably pretty dangerous. Chapter 40 - "conspiracy fever dream" 🤣 I love this description! Very very apt. I like to have a pretty big buffer of prepared chapters before I start posting. It's been kind of a rough summer, so I'm not as far along as I was hoping to be at this point. But Season Two is definitely in the works. Stay tuned.
