EvilBnuuyI know, right? Hansel and Gretel is one of those fairy tales where even the original parent is...not that good. I was trying to figure out how they would react when the kids came back. I think Hansel is trying to trust his father, and of course trusting Hilda is impossible.
Gretel's dreams are partially inspired by my sister. She is often better at telling who not to trust than I am - and has no illusions about what is happening. Hansel is obsessed with making things work. Gretel's dreams are prophetic in that sense.

So good!
Your storytelling through pictures is awesome! And I really like how you are developing the characters. Even though I am familiar with the story this is based on, I still feel suspense.

GlacierSnowThank you very much - that is good news, given that the story is so familiar. I am glad you like the pictures, too. One of my favorite things about graphic novels is the sense of movement the panels convey...and I try to capture that. Anyway, I think if I had to redo that chapter, I would definitely give Hilda more speech bubbles so that the text is bigger. I'm still figuring things out.

Hilda is so sinister and creepy! I got the heebie jeebies when she was talking to Hansel. I love the screenshots of the snow, seasons was always my favourite pack for this reason. But I'm also pretty angry as well. How does their dad pretend like he didn't just try to ditch his kids in the forest? Where is his shame?!??!? Ugh.

Awesome chapter and awesome pictures again Thank you very much! I hope people don't mind that I skipped the breadcrumbs part. I would not have been able to show that in this game, so...

Ooh, love this! We finally see the edible house! It's gorgeous. And looks quite welcoming too, so I don't blame the children for not being more cautious. The relationship between Hansel and Gretel is so cute. They sigh and roll their eyes but they still care about each other so much. Excited for the next chapter!

Thank you so much, tavvles . I am so glad you like the relationship between Hansel and Gretel. I thought Hansel was a bit all over the place during this chapter. First, hopeless, then elated, then frightened. I guess it makes sense, given the weird situation he's in, but I worry about my characterization. He's supposed to be the practical one, and Gretel is the one who is trying to get food! What am I doing? I don't know!
It took me a while to find the right house on the gallery. This one is called "Gingerbreadhouse" by elephantensmile. I'm not that great at building - my houses end up looking like boxes with doors stuck on.

Yay! New Chapter! I love your little side comments on the pictures like "what are grasshoppers doing in the snow?" and "that is a piece of roof decoration". I really like your playful sense of humor, even though the story is quite a dark kind of theme. I didn't even notice the lack of "breadcrumbs" scene until you mentioned it. The only real purpose of that scene in the original story was to build up suspense. Which you already did via your previous chapters with the family development. So it worked totally smoothly.

GlacierSnow I'm relieved about the breadcrumbs. About the grasshoppers -- there are so many cute moments in this game. I think even a sim in a dire situation like this could convince himself that things aren't too bad. Oh, and the roof decorations! I was trying to convey that part of the story (Hansel eats part of the roof, Gretel gnaws on a window) through pictures in a game where the building materials aren't edible at all - not even a little bit.
